Colours for grey eyes
This is your palette
In our quiz grey eyes pull towards cool – more firmly than blue eyes do – and they nudge colour towards soft and greyed rather than clear. With the rest of your answers, grey-eyed readers land on the cool side in most combinations, most often in Deep Winter, Light Summer or Soft Summer. Warm hair and skin can still carry you to a warm palette, most often an Autumn one, and when it is close, the result says so and lets you compare two rows of colour at the mirror.

Tips
- Grey eyes borrow colour from what sits next to them, so you choose what they show. A blue near the face – slate, cornflower, a soft denim – brings their blue forward; sage, teal or a muted sea green brings out the green.
- For a stronger effect, use the opposite colour. Dusty rose, mauve and soft plum bring out green flecks; a small touch of soft apricot or rosy copper makes the blue look bluer. If your palette is cool, keep that warm touch small and away from the face.
- Look at your grey in daylight. A blue-grey points to the Summer palettes; grey with a green cast or a golden ring near the pupil is the case where an Autumn palette can be yours; a dark steel grey with dark hair points to Winter. Check it at the mirror.
- Grey eyes are quiet, and hard black or stark white beside them can make them look paler. Charcoal, navy, soft white and a blue-grey frame them without competing. If your hair is dark and the contrast is high, deep colours and even black work – that is the Winter case.
- Grey next to grey eyes works when it carries a little colour: a blue-grey, a green-grey or a soft heather picks up their tint. A flat mid grey that is duller than your eyes makes them look duller too.
- Silver, pewter and white gold echo the cool steel in grey eyes. Soft palettes look best in brushed or matte metal rather than a mirror shine; if your eyes have a warm ring near the pupil and your palette is warm, try a soft gold.
How to find your palette
Colour analysis reads three things in your colouring: warm or cool, light or deep, clear or soft. The quiz asks about your eyes, hair and skin, looked at in a mirror by a window in daylight. It never photographs or scans your face, and the palette it finds is yours to keep.
