What to wear with burgundy
This is your palette
Burgundy is dark, red and rich, and in our twelve palettes it belongs to the deep ones: Deep Autumn carries it as a warm mahogany, Deep Winter as a cool wine. For Light Spring, True Spring and True Summer it is harder near the face – too heavy, and leaning the wrong way. Below, the two palettes that carry it and what to wear with each.

Harder near the face for
For these palettes it fights the face. Lower down, or as a small accent, it can still work.
Tips
- Burgundy and navy are a classic dark pair; for softer contrast, put burgundy with grey or stone.
- Burgundy and pink in one look works when the pink is dusty, not candy: it reads as one family, light and dark.
- Burgundy with camel is the warm version, for Deep Autumn; burgundy with cool grey or black is the cool one, for Deep Winter.
- If burgundy is harder near your face, wear it as shoes, a bag or a skirt – it is one of the easiest colours to wear lower down.
How to find your palette
Colour analysis reads three things in your colouring: warm or cool, light or deep, clear or soft. The quiz asks about your eyes, hair and skin, looked at in a mirror by a window in daylight. It never photographs or scans your face, and the palette it finds is yours to keep.
