What colours go with grey
This is your palette
A plain mid grey is a cool, quiet colour, and it belongs to the Summers, to True and Deep Winter and – as a warm taupe-grey – to Soft Autumn. For the clear and warm palettes – True and Bright Spring, True and Deep Autumn, Bright Winter – a flat grey is harder near the face: it drains warmth or dulls clarity, and a camel, a taupe or a cleaner charcoal does better. Below, each palette’s grey and what to wear with it.

Harder near the face for
For these palettes it fights the face. Lower down, or as a small accent, it can still work.
Tips
- Grey makes almost any colour look cleaner: one bright from your palette next to grey – a raspberry, a cobalt, an emerald – is a whole look.
- Light grey with white reads fresh; charcoal with white reads sharp. Choose by depth: light colouring takes light grey, deep colouring takes charcoal.
- Grey and navy together look polished when one is clearly lighter than the other.
- If grey makes you look grey, it is the wrong side for you – try your palette’s taupe or camel in the same place.
How to find your palette
Colour analysis reads three things in your colouring: warm or cool, light or deep, clear or soft. The quiz asks about your eyes, hair and skin, looked at in a mirror by a window in daylight. It never photographs or scans your face, and the palette it finds is yours to keep.
