Colours for red hair
This is your palette
In our quiz red hair pulls further towards warm than any other single answer, and it keeps colour saturated rather than greying it. That is why red-haired readers almost always land in a Spring or an Autumn palette – the question is usually which one.
What it says about your colouring
On its own, it leans warm.
It can carry clear, saturated colour.
It reads mid-depth.
The palettes it leads to most often

- Vivid Coral
- Clear Warm RedTomato red, not blue-red.
- Warm Terracotta
- Soft Ochre
Tips
- Repeat your hair rather than fight it: rust, copper, warm olive and camel make red hair look intentional, while a cool pink or an icy pastel makes it look brassy.
- Green is the classic partner for red hair because it sits opposite red on the colour wheel. Choose a warm green – moss, olive, forest – rather than a cool emerald or mint.
- Before you add another red, repeat the red of your hair in a different texture: a rust knit next to copper hair works, a fire-engine red usually competes with it.
- If your red has faded towards strawberry or sand, the softer, lighter colours of the Spring palettes will suit you better than the deep Autumn shades.
How to find your palette
Colour analysis reads three things in your colouring: warm or cool, light or deep, clear or soft. The quiz asks about your eyes, hair and skin, looked at in a mirror by a window in daylight. It never photographs or scans your face, and the palette it finds is yours to keep.
