Colours for grey hair
This is your palette
In our quiz grey hair says almost nothing about warm or cool, but a great deal about clarity: it softens, so grey-haired readers nearly always land in a soft palette – most often a Soft Autumn or a Soft Summer. Whether yours is the warm one or the cool one, your skin and eyes decide.
What it says about your colouring
On its own, it says nothing about warm or cool.
It softens the colours that suit you.
It reads mid-depth.

Tips
- Choose soft, mid-strength colours – dusty rose, soft teal, sage, plum, muted navy. Neon and very saturated colours sit in front of soft grey hair rather than with it.
- Look at the grey in daylight. A bright silver or white grey takes cooler colours – soft blue, rose, lavender, cool grey. A creamy or salt-and-pepper grey with some warmth in it takes sage, soft camel, peach and warm taupe.
- Swap black near the face for charcoal, navy, deep plum or soft brown. They keep the outfit defined without the hard edge black can draw next to soft grey hair.
- Your eyes and brows set how deep you can go. If they are still dark, you keep contrast and can carry deeper soft colours; if they are light, stay with the lighter soft shades – the quiz checks both.
How to find your palette
Colour analysis reads three things in your colouring: warm or cool, light or deep, clear or soft. The quiz asks about your eyes, hair and skin, looked at in a mirror by a window in daylight. It never photographs or scans your face, and the palette it finds is yours to keep.
