What colours go with white
This is your palette
White goes with every colour there is – the question is which white. In our palettes, pure optic white near the face belongs to Bright Winter and True Winter, and Deep Winter’s winter white is very close to it. True Summer wears a cool soft white, Bright Spring a bright ivory and True Spring an ivory silk. The other six palettes keep stark white away from the face and soften it: towards ivory and cream for Light Spring and the three Autumns, towards a misty soft white for Light Summer and Soft Summer. Lower down – white jeans, trousers, trainers – white suits everyone. Below, what to wear with white, palette by palette.

Tips
- White and black is the sharpest pair there is, and it belongs to the Winters: optic white with true black for Bright and True Winter, winter white with night black for Deep Winter. If your palette is softer, lower the contrast: ivory with chocolate or cocoa brown for the Springs and Autumns, soft white with charcoal or slate for the Summers.
- White makes clear colours look even clearer. Bright Winter wears it with hot cerise, vivid turquoise or royal blue; True Winter with cherry red, cobalt or emerald; and Bright Spring’s bright ivory goes with vivid coral, aqua and a bright warm blue.
- White and navy is the easiest smart pair, and every palette has a navy of its own. True Summer pairs its soft white with a greyed navy or summer blue; the Winters pure white with a deep navy; the warm palettes ivory with a warm marine navy.
- If pure white looks harsh on you, choose an off-white by its warmth. For the Autumns: ivory, cream or oyster white with camel, terracotta, olive or rust. For Light Spring: warm ivory with peach, apricot or light camel. For Light Summer and Soft Summer: a misty soft white with dusty rose, powder blue and pearl grey.
- White trousers or jeans suit everyone, because they sit far from the face. Wear your palette’s own colour on top – a camel knit for an Autumn, a powder-blue shirt for a Summer, a coral or peach top for a Spring – and the white below keeps the outfit light.
- Not sure which white is yours? In daylight, hold an optic white and then an ivory under your chin. If optic white makes your skin look sallow or grey and deepens the shadows, your white is the softer one. If ivory makes you look yellow and dull, pure white is yours.
How to find your palette
Colour analysis reads three things in your colouring: warm or cool, light or deep, clear or soft. The quiz asks about your eyes, hair and skin, looked at in a mirror by a window in daylight. It never photographs or scans your face, and the palette it finds is yours to keep.
